CHS improved to 7-4 and secured 2nd place in the SAC (5-1) for the
second consecutive year with a 5-0 away blanking of Frankfort.
Playing in damp and cold conditions, the Athenians won the match
efficiently without losing a set. Freshman Jake Zurawski made his
varsity debut for Crawfordsville, and is the first freshman to make an
appearance for CHS in five years. He and sophomore Travis Kruckow
played attacking tennis to defeat Dalton Abston and Dylan Flora in
straight sets.
Although CHS was shut out by #13 West Lafayette, three of the
matches were very competitive and the Athenians played very well. Both
doubles teams in particular were very sharp, and Brainard and Merriman
played a very valiant, long match before running out of steam.
To me, the match showed that the entire CHS lineup is playing well
and playing with a lot of intensity, an excellent sign with a week to
go before sectionals.

Lebanon won the event, followed by Western Boone and Crawfordsville.
In addition,
two of the three golfers to advance individually were from league schools, one

I am very proud of these girls. They have put in a strong
effort all season. Tonight was the only the second meet in which they could
score as a team, and to grab 2nd out of five teams has given them
some momentum at the half-way point of the season.
