BT: #13 West lafayette handles Crawfordsville

CHS News Bureau

WLHS 5 CHS 0

1.Joey Frank def Drew Smail 6-2 6-0
2. Sean McCabe def Andrew Allen 6-2 6-0
3. Taylor Kehl def Brendon Craft 6-2 7-6
1D. Jake Weiss/Rhett Berry def Luke Wren/Eric Totheroh 6-1 7-6
2D. David Hollis/Jae-Hyun Kwon def Craig Brainard/Jacob Merriman 7-6 6-7 6-0

Although CHS was shut out by #13 West Lafayette, three of the
matches were very competitive and the Athenians played very well. Both
doubles teams in particular were very sharp, and Brainard and Merriman
played a very valiant, long match before running out of steam.

To me, the match showed that the entire CHS lineup is playing well
and playing with a lot of intensity, an excellent sign with a week to
go before sectionals.

XC: Athenians claim second on both sides of five way meet

CHS News Bureau

The Boys Crawfordsville Athenian Cross Country team placed
second at the five-way meet hosted by Fountain Central.  Other teams that ran were Fountain Central,
North Vermillion, Covington and Rockville. The Athenians scored 29 and North Vermillion
won with 28. North Vermillion scored 1st, 4th, 6th,
7th, and 10th with another team scoring 9th.  The boys all ran hard tonight. Tonight John
Lawson’s time and place reflected his potential to give Tony Sturm competition
as our 1st ranked runner. All of the boys have been achieving
personal bests this week which has been fun to watch.

Tony Sturm                18:35              2

John Lawson              18:55              3

Seth Lewis                  19:44              5

Colby Light                 20:18              8

Free Kashon              20:47              11

Stephen Sells                         22:24              23

Derrick Marshall       23:06              28

Gerard Salter                         23:46              33

Girls Results:
The Girls Crawfordsville Athenian Team placed second at the five-way meet.

Tayler Hutson           23:14
             2

Nina Munroe                         27:01              10

Bri Freeze                  28:37              16

Sam Morgan              30:44              20

Rachael Tribbett       31:25              22

I am very proud of these girls. They have put in a strong
effort all season. Tonight was the only the second meet in which they could
score as a team, and to grab 2nd out of five teams has given them
some momentum at the half-way point of the season.
