FRANKFORT, Ind. – Crawfordsville High School’s girls golf team pulled out a tight triangular meet win Tuesday afternoon.
Hopefully the victory will propel them into another today.
Crawfordsville senior Stormy Staton fired a 41 and earned medalist honors, as the Athenians hung on for a 208-209 win over Sagamore Athletic Conference rival Frankfort at Frankfort Country Club.
Hamilton Heights had only three golfers and had an incomplete team score.
Besides Staton, sophomore Courtney Hamilton (55), Amber Johnson (56) and Rebecca Johnson (56) each shot rounds in the 50s.
“This is good for psyche of the kids,” Athenians’ coach Darren Haas said. “The bottom girls especially and the Johnson girls battled well. Stormy started with a triple bogey and struggled. We just scored well enough to win.”
Crawfordsville next plays at 4:30 p.m. today in a triangular meet at Harrison Hills Golf Course with Benton Central and Attica.
