ATTICA,
Ind. – Three of North Montgomery High School’s girls golfers shot
personal bests Wednesday afternoon as the Chargers earned a
second-place Attica Invitational finish.
Sagamore Athletic
Conference rival Lebanon won the 18-hole invitational at Harrison Hills
Golf Course, finishing with a 343. North Montgomery had a 402 team
total, followed by conference and county-rival Southmont (416); Seeger
(436); Benton Central (447); and conference and county-rival
Crawfordsville (454). Fountain Central and Attica each had incomplete
teams and scores.
North Montgomery senior Emily Williams (94)
and sophomores Caitlyn White (102) and Samantha McAlister (110) each
recorded personal best scores, while senior Miranda Pettit added a 96.
“I
couldn’t be happier, especially with a difficult course like Harrison
Hills,” Chargers’ coach Kendra Ruemler said. “Miranda needs to work on
her driving a little bit. But I’m pleased so far. They all have lot of
potential and I’m hopeful.”
After winning the Eagle South Putnam
Invitational, Southmont’s team struggled Wednesday. Only one golfer –
Taylor Davis (94) – shot in the 90s.
Crawfordsville’s Stormy
Staton fired an 80 but the other three Athenians’ golfers had rounds in
the 100s. Freshman Clancy Wolf did turn in a personal-best 111 in her
first varsity meet.
Crawfordsville coach Darren Haas said the
Athenians were missing a couple of varsity players but they should be
back when they start play again next week.
