Crawfordsville’s softball team maintained its perfect slate Friday
with a 3-2 victory over visiting Greencastle. The win improved the Athenians to
6-0 on the season. In the process, the Athenians received a major bonus.
Sophomore Marrisa French took the mound for her first start
of the season, and was strong throughout. The Tiger Cubs plated one run in the
first inning, but after that French was able to work herself out of any trouble
she encountered.
Crawfordsville gained the lead on the strength of a two run
third inning. It was during that rally that French learned one of the cardinal
rules of pitching—-help yourself with the bat! She did just that with an RBI
double during the rally.
The Athenians put their streak on the line Saturday with a
date at Fountain Central.
